Actions Semiconductor¨s ATM7039 is an advanced system on a chip (SoC) multi-core processing solution suitable for tablet market architectures. The ATM7039 is part of Actions Semiconductor¨s OWL series of processing solutions for tablets.

The ATM7039 has an integrated quad-core A9 processor that balances the need for high CPU performance and functionality with low power and low cost. It uses the Imagination PowerVR SGX544MP graphics processing unit (GPU) and an independent video processing unit (VPU) supporting H.265/HEVC. An integrated image signal processing (ISP) engine is also integrated in the ATM7039. These features combine to deliver an SoC processing solution for optimal experience for video playback and recording in tablets.

To best balance high performance and low power requirements, Actions Semiconductor leveraged the low power design (LPD) generation III and adaptive dynamic power (ADP) architectures. With these features built into the OWL Series, tablet designers can best ensure customers enjoy longer battery life alongside high performance experiences. The design of the ATM7039 allows for high performance and low power with a low bill of material (BOM).

The ATM703X has integrated LVDS, HDMI transmitter (Tx),MIPI DSI and MIPI CSI interfaces, essentially meeting all "must have" interfaces in the tablet market. It leverages USB 3.0/2.0 to transfer mass data between the ATM7039 and a host/slave/hub. It also has a 64bit DDR3/DDR3L controller and large capacity NAND flash controller with 72bit ECC/Toggle NAND. This allows system designers to more easily adopt the most cost-effective memory. The ATM7039 can be used with Actions Semiconductor¨s ATC2603X companion chip. This chip has an integrated power management unit (PMU) and audio codecs.
